Looking to see if one of our puppies is right for you? Well here are the results for Volhard's PET test and my own personal notes on the puppies.
The Volhard personality test describes the Chocolate Girl as majority shy, but calm/easy to train. Good for first time breed owners. I would describe her as a little bit shy as well, however she is plenty confident, as a 4 week old puppy she was the most adventurous and was already learning to escape her pen.
The Red Boy is described as high energy but good with people and pets. Easily trained and a good family pet. I would definitely agree with this assessment. He is very friendly and fun while still being pretty calm and easy to train.
The Red Girl also got the same results as the Red Boy high energy, friendly, and easy to train, but I would say she is a bit more friendly than the boy, she is overjoyed to come play with me when I call her and comes every time. She would definitely be good in an active household full of people and/or pets.
The Volhard personality test describes the Dark Red Girl as quite shy, and best is a calm household without too many people or pets. While I agree with her being a bit timid to new experiences and loud noises she isn't overwhelmingly shy and scared, she plays very well with the others and will try new things she just may take a little bit more patience than the others. On the more positive side this also means she is a great snuggler.
Last but definitely not least the Piebald Girl. The test describes her as a leader, self confident, and likely best with someone who knows the breed well. I agree with this assessment but in my personal opinion as an avid dachshund lover she is my favorite. She has the spunky little Dachshund attitude through and through but is also a little sweetie pie that will make you immediately forget all of her attitude. However, Like the test said she does need to go to a home that knows what these little guys are about and are equipped to handle the shenanigans.
